I have a Snapping Hip!

Ever heard of Snapping Hip syndrome?

I recently found out that I have a Snapping Hip! Everytime I walk, you can actually feel my hip area snapping. It's like a clicking sound and those who have had the chance to touch my hip (heh, not a lot of people ah, so consider yourself lucky if you are one of them kekeke..) would think that my bones are falling apart...

Sounds disgusting right wahaha... and to think I have lived with this condition for more than 3 years!

Actually this really didn't bother me until recently when I returned from the Hong Kong Netball Trip. We played 3 games there, plus shopping time. So you can expect my leg muscles working overtime during that period.

One night towards the end of the trip, Eric and I was walking along Nathan Road for some last min shopping and sightseeing(I think it is Nathan Road, still haven't got my map directions right..hee), and Eric suddenly turned and asked if I was limping.

That was when I realised how bad my hip area hurt. I was practically leaning onto Eric while walking.

So when I returned home I went to visit the Polyclinic. Did an XRay. Doctor diagnosed my condition as Osteo Arthritis.

WTH right, so young inflicted with this bone deterioration disease. Immediately I thought of how much I would miss playing Netball. Didn't even care that I might not be able to walk in future. That's how much playing Netball means to me now.

I was then referred to a KKH bone specialist. While waiting for my turn, I told myself to accept whatever condition I have. Life still has to go on right?

************************************************************************************
I didn't even stay long enough in the doctor's office to warm my seat, and doctor told me that I have a Snapping Hip.

In layman's terms, a muscle that runs past my hip bone snaps over instead of gliding over. This is due to a roughen hip bone area, probably because of sports. That is why I could feel the clicking sound. And this snapping action is causing my hip area to be inflamed, which is why I experience pain and soreness.

It is actually quite common in young athletes and women. I just have to take anti-inflammatory pills to ease my condition. If I want to totally stop my hips from snapping, I could opt for surgery. But NO THANKS!

One lesson that I have learnt from this experience is not to trust Polyclinic doctors! Take what they say with a pinch of salt.

However, in a way I also feel that this is a blessing in disguise, because recently I have started to drink a lot of milk and load myself with calcium-rich food.

I want to rule out, or at least delay any Osteo conditions later on in my life....*shudders*

Haha I just thought of something funny. Next time during one of those introduction sessions, I can tell people that I have a Snapping Hip! It's more unique than starting off with those boring lines like "Hi, I'm a 23 year old Graduate from NTU...blah blah blah..."

Just hope after hearing about my condition people won't start coming over to feel my hip area.......wahaha......OK Eric I know what you're thinking of right now. Don't worry. Only girls allowed.
